1. Which areas will provide an area with an interesting backdrop for a an expansive deep focus image?
2. Which areas will allow for an intersting closeup motion as well as an intersting backround for deep focus?
3. Which parts will yield interesting images or sounds after dark?
4. Which part would be best during daylight?
5. Is there any area that includes differing types of landscapes, like woods and city, that can create a surreal feeling?
6. What part of the city will have the most grooves?
7. Which parts will have things with grooves that you can also look through?
8. Are there any well known landmarks in the area?
9. Are there places of action that will provide interesting motions and or sounds?
10. What part of the drift area will have alot of different colors?

Production Strategy

My production strategy is to start at the lake front right where Lake Drive turns towards UWM. It is a promising area because it is nearby a metropolis area and a wooded area, which I found to be a good mix on my first drifts. I am sticking to my previous strategy of shooting things with grooves and things we look through as it wielded good results and I am interested to see what else I can do with it. Also I found that it is interesting when you can combine these two elements, it mixes texture of objects as well as its surrounding. For sound I feel that going for steady ambiance noises and harsh clangy noises goes well with grooves and things we look through.

The Aggravation

Overall there were plenty of awkward moments and funny looks I had along the way, but the most stressing was being yelled at by a Qudoba employee for getting carried away taking pictures in the restaurant. Also it was awkward taking recordings in upscale neighborhoods and of children because because that is just a suspicious activity. Also the most aggravating feeling was seeing trash that had previously been hidden by snow but was now strew about everywhere.

Contemplative Times

The most peaceful and contemplative time is described below in the post on my favorite experience. The next most contemplative time was walking under bridges along the Oak Leaf Bike Trail. It was like a trench dug out of an inner city setting and was a surreal way of viewing a busy metropolis. It was toward the end of my drift and it gave me a new consideration for the overall experience I had just had, like I was reviewing it all from a different perspective.

Suprise Situations

Overall I was surprised at the feeling of euphoria after completing each drift. It was refreshing to get out and exercise but also it was interesting how I felt a stronger connection with my surroundings and what images are put before me. I will hopefully continue to strengthen that connection. I was also surprised with the way the imagery turned out of the camera moving over the rusty bridge railing. It was a spur of the moment decision that yielded some groovy results. Finally I was surprised to find the wooded areas of lake park to be so well kept, especially for being so near a major metropolis area.

Favorite Experience

My favorite experience was at the lake front towards the beginning of my drift 2 walk. It was beginning to turn into a beautiful day and the breeze coming off the lake as well as the sound of the birds and waves was a surreal experience after a long winter. I was taking images of a little waterfall that ran into the lake as well as shooting poetry that was graffitied on the rocks. It had a special effect on me because I found a sleeping bag and old alcohol bottles around and it was an inspiring experience to think of it as someones home.
